As Business Manager/Financial Secretary of Local Union 10 IBEW, I am proud to report that the Local's financial status is once again in good condition. This is a result of this administration's frugal spending and careful oversight of the Local Unions monies. It was not easily accomplished, but we have come a long way since 2012 when the Local was considering a significant dues increase to stay financially stable.
As a result of our solid financial status, the Local Union has decided to absorb all of the Local Union dues increase for 2018 except for one percent (which the International required the Local to do). So you will only have a one percent increase in Local Union 10 dues.
Also, for dues to the IBEW International Office, changes are as follows. The delegates of the 39th IBEW International Convention, which was conducted in St. Louis, Missouri, during the week of September 19 through 23, 2016, approved several amendments to Article IX of the IBEW Constitution. Accordingly, effective January 1, 2017, there was an increase of the two dollars ($2.00) for the IBEW Pension Benefit Fund (PBF) contribution, which applies to "A" members only. There was no change in the per capita that is paid to the General Fund, and therefore, the rate for all "BA" members stayed the same for 2017 ($18.00).
However, as of January 1, 2018, the per capita paid to the General Fund will increase from $18.00 to $19.00. This will amount to a .23 cent dues increase to the International per week. This includes "A" and "BA" members both.
As Financial Secretary of Local Union 10, it is my duty to keep such books and records necessary and report that to the membership as needed. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
