Most companies in the United States utilize workers in foreign countries to handle customer inquires. These companies also have policies directing overseas employees to transfer a customer to a United States call center upon request.
Bringing American Call Centers back to the United States would greatly increase employment opportunities for our citizens. It would also increase organizing opportunities within the IBEW.
Organizing these call centers should be a priority and would provide employees a voice on the job regarding their wages and benefits. Increasing bargaining strength throughout the industry.
The delegates to the 39th Convention do commit to requesting a representative based in the United States when contacting an American company.
