Remembering Lester Fillingham

Brother Lester Fillingham died unexpectedly on May 24th 2021.
Lester joined our union in 2000 when he began his career at NYSEG as a Meter Reader. His time in the meter department proved early on that he would make a positive impact on the people that were lucky enough to know him.
When Lester got his chance at a line apprenticeship on the Mobile Workforce he jumped on it immediately. He was a hard worker with a good attitude. Never getting flustered even in the toughest situations, he started to show why he would become a great lineman. After a few years of traveling the state he topped out as a 1/C lineman while working in the Liberty division.
Lester eventually brought his good nature and hard work ethic back to the Geneva dock. He worked his way up from a 1/C on nights to a Chief position a few years ago. Lester was always one to show the new crop of lineman his trade and act as an example of solidarity to them as well. He was an instrumental part of the entire Geneva division. His kind heart and wonderful personality can never be replaced and he will be missed dearly by all.

We also ask that you keep Lester's wife Gina and the rest of his family in your thoughts and prayers as we all navigate this difficult time.
