Unions: As American as Apple Pie

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

The preamble to the United States of America, "In order to form a more perfect Union." America is a Union! The coming together of the colonies for the greater good of them all. That's exactly what a Union is, people uniting together for the greater good of all.

"Promote the general welfare," again, this is what Unions do. Promote the general welfare of the members, and even raise the standard of living for those not in Unions.

"Establish Justice," unions help to ensure that the membership is not treated unjustly by employers.

"Provide for a common defense," Unions negotiate Collective Bargaining Agreements that establish wages, benefits, and working conditions for those in the bargaining unit.

Unions couldn't be more American. They have been here since this great country was conceived, and they will continue as long as there are those who would take advantage of those working for them. Their wages, benefits, hours of work, safety, a voice at work, all because they joined together for a greater good.

America is a Union, and Unions couldn't be more American! Don't let anyone try to tell you anything different!
