Who's Next?

As of this date it is my true intention to retire at the end of my current term in office the first part of next November. It has been a great honor to serve as a union official for 'you these many years.

So who among you will decide to run for office next election cycle? This job is both challenging and exciting. Whether you are experienced or not, you need to be able to hit the ground running if chosen by the membership to represent them.

It's time to start making a plan if you even remotely considered the position. How much support you have directly influences your effectiveness. Assemble the right team around you, one that will give you true and honest support. You will have to sacrifice for the betterment of all. Know the history of the local union, and think of the entire state instead of where you came from.

Being able to manage time, work in a team setting, set goals, start conversations, facilitate meetings, make presentations and motivate your peers will benefit you.

On a regular basis you will be working with the union membership, the International officers, fellow local officers, office staff, politicians and fellow union leaders.

If you feel that you are right for the job, or know someone that may be. Now is the time to start making plans.
