Fund for the Dale Crout Family

Iberdrola USA will match, dollar for dollar, any monetary donations made to a fund set up for Dale’s family. In the Elmira District, we will co-ordinate donations through the Line Dept. Please leave your donation with Kathy or JoAnn. Cash or checks, made out to Brenda Crout, will be forwarded to HR. DONATIONS NEED TO BE MADE BEFORE NOV. 28th TO GET THE MATCHING FUNDS.
We will forgo the Salvation Army program this Christmas, and ask you to please donate to this Fund instead. A lot of us made a lot of money in the last few weeks. Please be as generous as you possibly can to help the family of one of our own.
Email from Bob Kump, CEO Iberdrola USA
Dear fellow NYSEG, RG&E, CMP and Iberdrola USA Employees:
It was with great sadness that we reported earlier today the death of a NYSEG employee and a helicopter pilot. We now have additional information that we can provide.
Dale Crout, an Elmira Division first class (1/C) line mechanic was inspecting NYSEG transmission lines yesterday when the helicopter he was in crashed.
Dale began his NYSEG career on April 22, 2001 as a meter reader in the Elmira Division. He progressed to driver-worker in the Elmira line department, and in 2002 to line apprentice. He became a line mechanic 1/C on September 26, 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda, and children, Erica (Joseph) Westervelt, Courtney and Kendale.
A 1990 graduate of Watkins Glen High School, Dale was a racing enthusiast and could often be found on weekends at the race track with his family, cheering on his youngest child, Kendale.
Friends and family are invited to call Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. Fourth Street, Watkins Glen, NY. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. You may express condolences to the family or “light a candle” in his memory online at
In Dale’s honor, we have established a special fund for his family. The company will match, dollar for dollar, any monetary donations employees wish to make. If you wish to make a donation, please deliver (in person or by interoffice mail) a check, payable to Brenda Crout, to one of the following Human Resources representatives by November 28, 2012:
· Debbie Benzi, Kirkwood, NY
· Jorge Saavedra, Rochester, NY
· Holly Duguay, Augusta, ME
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Crout family, our fellow co-workers, and the family of the pilot during this extremely difficult period.
Posted Nov. 16 2012 Dale Crout was on patrol inspecting transmission lines in Corning when the helicopter he was riding in crashed taking the pilot and brother Dale Crout from us on Thursday, November 15th. Dale was a good family man, very involved in his son's racing and his wife's writing career. Dale was also a very good Lineman out of Elmira and well respected and liked by his co-workers. Dale has three children, and you can imagine what a difficult time this must be for his family.
As we do all we can to help the Crout family with his benefits at the company, we will be organizing fundraisers and any support the Crout family needs. Right now is the time to mourn so we will communicate to you the details on services as that information becomes available.
May God be with the Crout family and with Local 83 during this time. We will miss you Dale but we will never forget you.
Dale is survived by his wife Brenda, his daughters Ericka age 24, Courtney age 21 and son Kendale age 13.
