HURRICANE IRENE - Special Message from Local 83
As you know our entire membership is engaged in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. At its peak an estimated 270,000 customers are without power or natural gas. We have members watching downed wires, doing damage assessment, handing out dry ice, checking on critical customers and restoring power. In other areas of the State we have crews making safe for flooded basements and doing gas re-lites. In Binghamton the Call Center is fully engaged with volumes of calls from customers, and let's not forget the crews taking care of the home front, covering calls with limited resources. Please remember our safety rules are in place to protect all of us! Take care of yourself and fellow worker.
